Our school the vocational training school and student hostel is named after Mihály Székely can be found in Szarvas in Békés county. It goes back to the past for many decades. Actually it is the continuer of training apprentices in Szarvas. At present we educate 700 students from 14 years old to 22 years old. Our staff consists of 60 members. We consider pronounced basic principle by our pedagogical programme the teaching, how you have to learn to know, how to learn to act, to learn to live together with other people, to learn to live. Our aim is developing the personal autonomy, to help on social integration, developing the intellectual faculty in our students. In the 9 th – 10 th classes of the vocational school the foundational training of the general knowledge is going on complemented with professional foundation. In vocational training classes in 11 th – 12 th we prepare our students for professional exams according to the National Instruction List. During the vocational training our aim is to give suitable bases to our students in order to be suitable for professional requirement of their workplace, to give marketable qualification into the children´s hands to prepare them for aptitude for lifelong learning. Our aim is to mitigate knowledge and social drawbacks to liquidate them, having an increased share in youth defence and mentalhigiene. Our aim is also to weak up claim to succesful, qualitative work to let out students who love their profession. In vocational school we teach crafts like joiner, dressmaker for women, cook, waiter, provision merchant and merchant for miscellaneous goods, hairdresser, house-painter, bricklayer. During the four years of teaching in vocational secondary school our primary aim is to get each student to succesful school leaving certificate, and during this time to give them professional knowledge which they can use in professions required school leaving certificate and can use during college or university education. We start technician training after the maturity examination on the basis of the programme edited by the National Instruction List. After the matura examination in the secondary school students can get the following qualifications technician of wood industry, technician of trade, pedagogic assistant, social worker. We have well-equipped training shops for catering trade, hairdressing, garment trade and wood industry and building industry. Our student life is extremely full of movement. We take part not only on general and professional competitions between schools, but we take part on competitions connected to different ranges of interest. Our students like sport they regularly make tours. We have been having good relations with the vocational schools inside the different region for a long time. We established our international relations with a school in ˝Szilágysomlyó˝ in Romania.
